Philipp Haffner was born in Berlin 1974. He studied Fine Arts at the academy of Arts Hamburg (HfbK) and German Literature at the University of Hamburg. He has had exhibitions in Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, Reykjavik and Rome.
Haffner explores drawing as a direct and independent Medium of communication, documentation, narration and imagination. The basic materials of his work are visual signs. He combines these particles to complex and non-linear formations. The drawings show the result of poetic/cognitive processing.
He attempts to expand the bounderies of drawing art into other medias like sculpture, video and literature. His special projects include: self-published drawing-books and editions, cyberart projects on several websites, animation and experimental videowork, papersculptures and light installations.
